An exhibition of drawings by Laura Laurens, presented in Tokyo and created using silk threads from traditional kimonos. Through drawing, threads, code, sound, and painting, the project explores interconnected systems of transformation. Guided by the figure of the mermaid as a liminal being, the work weaves silent narratives that build bridges between the ocean and the land, blurring the boundaries between fiction and reality. This project marks the beginning of a broader body of work in which the hypnotic songs of mermaids will continue to connect artists, territories, and diverse forms of knowledge, collectively weaving possible futures within a larger body of work entitled Techno-Mechanical Mermaids.
